'The Fast and the Furious' races into Cannes for special anniversary screening
'The Fast and the Furious' is lauded for launching over a billion-dollar franchise
The Fast and the Furious, the 2001 street-racing blockbuster that opened a path for an over a billion-dollar franchise, is set to speed up for the Cannes Film Festival for its 25th anniversary celebration.
Among the franchise's top names, Vin Diesel and Jordana Brewster are set to relive the moments at the special screening at the renowned film festival, which will run from May 12 to 23.
In addition, Meadow Walker, who is the daughter of Paul Walker, and producer Neal H. Mortiz will also appear at the event, set to take place on May 13 at Grand Théâtre Lumière.
Moreover, The Fast and the Furious is credited with launching a $7 billion empire that spanned 11 movies, multiple spin-offs, animated shows, toys, and video games.
To further grow, the underground street racing franchise added several A-listers, including Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, and Helen Mirren.
Then, there is a final outing to the action-packed franchise: Fast Forever.
The 11th installment was previously titled Fast X: Part 2. However, delays in script changes, questions over budget, and strikes in the industry pushed back the movie's release.
Fast Forever will now head to cinemas on March 17, 2028.
