Scott Patterson reveals why he avoided watching 'Gilmore Girls' for decades
Scott Patterson played Luke Danes in comedy-drama television series, 'Gilmore Girls,' created by Amy Sherman-Palladino
Scott Patterson recently made a shocking confession about his show Gilmore Girls.
For those unaware, Gilmore Girls, a comedy-drama television series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, released its first season in October 2000 and concluded the series after seven seasons in May 2007.
Patterson, who played the role of Luke Danes in the series, recently appeared on FOX 29's late-night program, MIKE, where he chatted with Mike Jerrick about Gilmore Girls, especially reflecting on his decision to not watch the show while filming.
“Because I made the sausage for 14 hours a day, I didn't want to eat it. I just was not interested in consuming it after I did it for so long. When you're on a TV series, you barely have time to eat, sleep or take a shower,” he explained.
The 67-year-old American actor and former baseball player first watched the show in 2021 on his podcast, I Am All In with Scott Patterson, where he used to articulate his thoughts about the show with his listeners.
Patterson shared, “I called iHeart, made a deal and that was my pitch. I had never seen the episodes. They said ‘Really?' They felt sorry for me, so they gave me a show because they felt bad for me.”
After watching the show in his podcast, he “loved it” and “understood what the fans were talking about. It's funny, it's endearing, it's sweet, it's unusual, it's abstract, it's experimental.”
“Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel — they are two very unique creative minds and you know, they're once in a generation people. They created it, and their unique background, it comes out of their backgrounds and how they grew up, and it's just so rife with comedy,” Scott Patterson said, singing praises of the show’s creators.
It is pertinent to mention that Gilmore Girls, “a dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut,” had an ensemble cast, including Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Jared Padalecki, Chad Michael Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and others.
