Nancy Guthrie update: Real reason behind Savannah Guthrie's mom abduction revealed
A former FBI profiler revealed "I think that's the highest probability" as search for Nancy continues
A former FBI profiler has revealed the real reason behind the abduction of US TV anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy.
Speaking to the NewsNation, Jim Clemente speculated that a revenge could be the reason behind Nancy’s alleged abduction on February 1.
He believes the kidnapper could be someone who became "obsessed" with Savannah, either from watching the Today show or after an "interaction."
Jim Clemente says "It could also have been just a delusion in his own mind and he could have built up an anger and resentment against her," he said. "And as a result, he felt justified in taking the mother to hurt her."
When reporter asked, "You think it was a man who had some sort of obsession with Savannah, who maybe watched her on TV every morning?", to which he replied, "I think that's the highest probability."
Jim continued, "we might be able to catch him" if someone eventually "recognize(s)" a guy who "always talked about her."
Earlier, in an interview with Hoda Kotb last month, Today host Savannah had said her celebrity status could have led to her mom Nancy's disappearance.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which is leading the investigation into the case has said, "Anyone with information related to the Nancy Guthrie case is encouraged to come forward.”
