Frontier Airlines launches ‘rescue fares’ after Spirit Airlines shutdown: Discounted tickets revealed
Spirit Airlines is permanently shutting down all operations on Saturday after failure to secure $500 million bailout package
Frontier Airlines has recently announced a series of “discounted rescue fares” and special flight passes on May 2 for stranded passengers who are affected by the shutdown of Spirit Airlines.
Under the newly proposed framework, the airline is set to introduce a special 2026 GoWild All-You-Can-Fly Summer Pass for 199-dollar, facilitating the travellers with affordable options in times of difficulty. The Denver-based carrier also operates more than 100 flying routes that Spirit airlines used to operate.
As per officials, besides 100 routes, the airline is also planning to include 9 more routes and 15 daily flights this summer to expand the reach to 18 countries, aiming to compensate for the closure of Spirit.
Discounted rescue fares
The rescue fares include discounted prices offering up to 50 percent off base fares for travel through November 10, 2026.
To get the tickets at half price, the travellers are instructed to use the promotional code “SAVENOW” when booking tickets on Frontier’s mobile app or website through May 10.
The promotional discount is only applied to those flights set to fly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. If the customers are choosing these days for flights, they must make bookings at least 21 days in advance.
Talking about the other travel days, the customer can avail of 10 percent discounts without any advance purchase requirement.
Bobby Schroeter, Frontier’s chief commercial officer, said, "Spirit Airlines played an important role in expanding access to affordable travel and bringing lower fares to more people.”
“We recognize this is a difficult time for their customers and team members. Frontier is making discounted fares available to help people keep their travel plans,” he added.
According to Frontier officials, these discounts would only apply to the base fare, excluding fees and government-related taxes.
Here is the catch! The offer includes certain dates when discounts cannot be availed, including parts of late May, June, July, September, and October.
Flights offered by Frontier Airlines
In Atlanta, Frontier offers three flights to Dallas, three to Miami and Tampa, and four daily to Orlando. Other cities where services are being provided include: North Carolina, Philadelphia (twice-daily service).
In Detroit, Frontier provides twice-daily service to Orlando and daily flights to Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale.
The announcement comes after Spirit Airlines started to shutdown operations after a failure to secure a $500 million federal bailout package.
