Is UK heading for another heatwave? Here's what the latest forecast says

The UK suffered from the record-breaking heatwave that peaked at 37.3°C in Suffolk last Friday.

According to a recent weather update, Britain is returning to normalcy following the scorching period. Most of the country is expected to experience “typical summer weather this week.”

The Met Office reported that the early part of this week will be largely dry with sunny spells for most, though the North West and parts of Scotland will see increased cloud and showers.

However, later in the week, the temperatures are set to soar as highs are expected in the low-to-mid twenties and “could climb to 27C in London from Thursday.”

Met Office forecaster Honor Criswick said, “The new week brings in some fresher air, it’s not going to be feeling as hot or humid, but there is still some sunshine in the forecast.”

Speaking about the South-east England, Criswick predicted that the temperature could rise especially in the first half of week. London is forecast to reach approximately 24–25°C in the coming days. It means the country could experience another wave of a heatwave.

However, the North West and Scotland would likely to experience the showers and temperature will remain between 23-24 C by the afternoon.

On Tuesday, the Met Office predicted heavy rainfall in the North West, reaching the North East by afternoon.

Discussing the possibility of another heatwave, a forecasting platform WXCharts forecasted that a third heatwave could return on July 7 as temperatures would hit 32C in south-east England. On July 8, the temperatures could spike to the highs of 36 C.

The Met Office’s three-month outlook indicates that temperatures through late July are expected to be above normal, “with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times.”

This year, the United Kingdom has experienced two heatwaves with record-smashing temperatures in Wales and England.
