Police investigate after deadly Kentucky bank robbery kills two employees in Berea
Trooper Scottie Pennington confirmed that a male and female employee died in the attack
Berea police and federal authorities are searching for a suspect after two bank employees were shot and killed during a robbery at a US bank branch on Thursday.
Kentucky State Police said the suspect entered the bank wearing a grey-and-white hoodie, gloves and a mask before opening fire on staff members inside the branch.
Trooper Scottie Pennington confirmed that a male and female employee died in the attack.
"They’re our people that work in our community, and they’re no longer with us. At this time, we do have some leads, and we’re trying our best to bring this evil person to justice,” Pennington said.
Authorities released an image of the suspect, who is believed to be around 6-foot-3.
Police said he fled towards East Chestnut Street, though investigators are still trying to determine whether he escaped on foot, by vehicle or with outside help.
Officials have not confirmed whether money or valuables were taken during the robbery.
"If you see something strange, and you don’t feel right about it — you know, your dogs are acting weird — call us," Pennington added.
