Banksy is once again in the spotlight with the appearance of the artwork showing a large new statue in central London.

The artwork shows the sculpture of a suited man holding a flag in one hand and marching forward off a plinth. The flags appeared fluttering while covering the face of man.

The statue is located in Waterloo Palace, close to statues of King Edward VII, Florence Nightingale, and the Crimean War Memorial.

The name “Banksy” has been scribbled at the base of plinth, sparking speculation that an elusive street artist may be behind this artwork. However, no official announcement has been made to confirm any involvement.

Banksy is known for stencil style imagery painted on the walls. In 2004, the artist deviated from his usual stencils to install a statue titled The Drinker on Shaftesbury Avenue. However, the statue was stolen shortly after its installation.

Other notable works include Animal Trail, a series of animal-themed pieces across London, Bayswater Mural, a piece featuring two children lying on ground and Royal Courts of Justice, depicting a judge with gavel looming over a protester which held a blood-spattered placard.

Earlier this year, the mystery related to Banksy identity reached its most significant turning point. In March 2026, a comprehensive investigation by Reuters claimed to have identified Banksy beyond dispute.

Reporters uncovered a handwritten and signed confession from a September 2000 arrest in New York City. A man was caught defacing a Marc Jacobs billboard. The court documents and the signed confession identify the perpetrator as Robin Gunningham.
