Prince William, the Prince of Wales has issued a personal message as rugby player George North announces his retirement.
On Wednesday, via official Instagram handle of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the future King hailed "special memories" the rugby player had given the sport.
Sharing the video clip of Goerge one of the iconic moments of the British and Irish Lions, where George tackle and carry Israel Folau, William wrote on his Stories, "Strength and speed on the pitch, George North at his very best."
He went on to add, "So many special memories, from Wales Six Nations triumphs to that unforgettable moment on the British & Irish Lions tour to Australia."
"Thank you, George, for everything you've given to Welsh rugby. Wishing you all the very best for the future," Prince William added further, signing off with his initial, "W."
George North, Wales and Lions legend announced his retirement from the professional rugby at the end of current season. Sharing the news via emotional social media video on April 29, 2026, George stated that it was the "right time" to step away after living out his "childhood dream" for 16 years.
It is pertinent to mention that the news came for William, dedicated sports fan, as he celebrates major milestone in his personal life.
The Prince of Wales marked his 15th wedding anniversary with Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales on April 29.
