King Charles, Queen Camilla honour lives lost in 9/11 terrror attack
King Charles and Queen Camilla carry out emotional engagement in New York
During his time in the United States, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived at New York to commemorate victims of 9/11 terror attack on Wednesday.
The King and Queen paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial, honoring lives of the victims lost on September 11, 2001.
Buckingham palace dropped a video clip from Charles and Camilla's visit via official Instagram handle of the royal family. In the video, Their Majesties laid a bouquet of flower at the memorial, where waterfall-ringed reflecting pools mark the footprints of the World Trade Center twin towers.
The caption of the post read, "In New York today, The King and Queen have paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial."
"During their time at the site, Their Majesties honoured the lives that were lost during the attacks, and recognised the courage of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts," it continued, noting further, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks."
Notably, the note on the flowers in King Charles' handwriting read: "We honour the memory of all those who so tragically lost their lives on 11th September 2001, and stand in enduring solidarity with the American people in the face of such profound loss. Charles R Camilla R."
It is pertinent to mention that King Charles and Queen Camilla's visit, part of their four-day state visit to the US, comes after the monarch delivered a speech to the US congress in Washington on Tuesday, held a private meeting with Donald Trump, and sat with the leaders of the US tech industry.
