Kate Middleton supports Prince William as Harry, Meghan return sparks royal strain

Kate Middleton has become a key source of support for Prince William amid renewed tensions within the royal family over the possible return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

A source told Heat Magazine that the strain of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s return is taking a personal toll on the future king.

According to sources, Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been confiding in William during periods of stress and is concerned about the emotional impact of ongoing family divisions.

“She is the one he confides in when he’s losing sleep, and she says it's affecting him more than he wants to let on,” the insider said of Prince and Princess of Wales’ bond.

They added, “It’s going to be an absolute nightmare when the summer comes. She wants more than anything to see this weight lifted.”

The insider noted that William is worried because King Charles is “warming to the idea” of having the Sussexes back in “half-in, half-out” proposal.

“If you’d told William a year ago that the Sussexes could be in with a chance of their longed-for proposal to be half-in, half-out of the royal family, he would’ve dismissed it as delusional. 

"But at this point, there’s no denying that Charles is warming to the idea," the insider added.

While William is said to remain firmly opposed to welcoming Harry and Meghan, Kate is believed to be urging a more protective approach ahead of Harry’s expected UK visit this summer for an Invictus Games event.

“Kate’s worried about the toll this stress is taking on William and she’s pushing for them to leave the country when Harry arrives,” the source said.

“It may sound extreme, but right now the Sussexes coming back is her worst nightmare and she strongly feels William needs to be shielded from as much negativity as possible.

“She’s reminding him that once he’s on the throne, he can bring about all the changes he wants and put the Sussexes in their place. But until then, the best thing he can do is wash his hands of this whole thing.

“William can’t fathom doing that. Letting Harry and Meghan weasel their way back in would be the death of everything he’s been brought up to respect and protect.”
