King Charles and French leader Macron meet over iconic 1,000-year-old masterpiece

A key cultural exchange between Britain and France is underway as King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted French president Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, at the British Museum.

Back in 1066, Duke of Normandy William set out on a quest that ultimately reshaped English society.

Bayeux Tapestry, a 1,000-year-old-plus artwork, is the highlight of the conquest and hence, the high-profile visit.

Not to mention, the old relic was a testament to the conquest William the Conqueror set out on, and it also featured the fateful Battle of Hastings.

Previously, the Bayeux Museum in France was displaying the artifact.

However, a major renovation there led to the tapestry being loaned to the UK for the first time in over 1,000 years.

Given the importance of such artwork, France also got some in return.

According to GB News, the British lent recovered historical artifacts from the famous Anglo-Saxon royal burial site at Sutton Hoo.

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his wife, Marie-France Van-Heel, as well as officials from both countries involved in the process, are also present at the event.

Afterward the speeches of Charles and Macron at the historic exhibition, the public will be allowed to view the Bayeux Tapestry masterpiece.
