Oldest living member of royal family remembers wife after first anniversary

The Duke of Kent, the oldest living member of the British royal family, on Sunday attended a concert celebrating his late wife, Duchess Catharine.

Prince Edward, a cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was joined by family members and dozens of young musicians at Sinfonia Smith Square.

Future Talent, the charity she co-founded to help gifted young performers from disadvantaged backgrounds, organised the event at the Grade I-listed London concert hall.

Alexander Armstrong, one of the charity's ambassadors, hosted the evening.

The Duchess of Kent died last year at the age of 92.

Born Katharine Worsley, she joined the royal family when she married Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, in 1961 after meeting him five years earlier when he was stationed at a military barracks in northern England.

The duchess also made headlines when she converted to Roman Catholicism in 1994, becoming the first British royal to do so since King Charles II, who turned to the faith on his deathbed in 1685.
