Prince William plans digital clean-up ahead of taking over the throne
Prince William takes control of online narrative before taking over the throne from King Charles
Prince William is reportedly stepping up efforts to shape his public image as he moves closer to the throne.
An insider has revealed that the Prince of Wales is working to take control of the online narrative before he becomes the king.
This comes after an old photograph from William’s teenage volunteer days resurfaced and sparked debate over how past moments align with expectations of a future king.
Speaking with Radar Online, an insider said, "There is a growing recognition that as William gets closer to the crown, every image and narrative associated with him is being reassessed.
“It is not just about one photograph – it is about the cumulative picture that exists online about him, and how that aligns with the role he is preparing to take on."
Another source noted that it is not just about “one photograph” but “a much wider clean-up.”
William wants a broader sweep of anything that could be misinterpreted or used out of context, so that when he eventually becomes king, he is starting from a position that feels controlled and consistent.,” they said.
Malcolm Sutherland, who led the Chile expedition, said, "William coped very well, and what struck me about him was how normal he was.
"He said he wanted to be treated like everyone else, and he was. When you saw him cleaning the toilets, it wasn't for the cameras, he really did clean the lavatories."
