Donald Trump’s White House Correspondent’s dinner has just suffered a major security breach and shadow home secretary for the UK, Chris Philip has just come on the record to voice his concerns about the potential security risk they are putting King Charles in, given that his trip to the other side of the pond is merely days away.

According to The Sun he’s voiced a lot of concerns, and urges that the trip be “urgently reviewed”.

Sources have even come forward and claim an “update in due course” is expected now that the suspect has been taken down, and any potential changes to the trip will also be updated “as is appropriate.”

Philip also spoke out about this “attack on democracy” in a chat with Sky News’s Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme.

He claimed there, “It’s always shocking when a democratically elected politician gets attacked in this way – it’s an attack not just on an individual, but an attack on democracy. I’m pleased, of course, that Donald Trump is unharmed and that the perpetrator has been apprehended.”

Per Fox News Digital Cabinet minister Darren Jones has also spoken about the security concerns that have erupted as a result of this shooting and tells that BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme, “As you would imagine, the Government and the Palace were in close co-operation with American counterparts in advance of the visit anyway, and further discussions will be taking place today ahead of next week.”

What is pertinent to mention is that the US president has even addressed the public since the issue occurred. He weighed in on the guard who was shot while engaged in a gun fight, as well as praised law enforcement for their response time to the gunman.

But what is pertinent to mention is that this incident happened just one week after Secret Service Director Sean Curran warned that the agency is not adequately staffed in order to handle any such events, especially given that there are two major events incoming, including the FIFA World Cup, the 2028 Olympics.

The suspect in question is also facing the potential of federal charges as revealed by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro back on Saturday.

As for the identity of the shooter, he was a guest at the Washington Hilton, and a resident of Torrance, California. His name is Cole Allen, aged 31.
