King Charles faces defining moment to assert leadership amid Prince William's strategic move: 'Mission-critical'

A royal expert has claimed that King Charles US trip is a ‘defining moment’ for the monarch to assert his leadership and cement his legacy.

Speaking to the Fox News Digital, royal expert Hilary Fordwich said: "Given the current dire condition of the ‘special relationship,’ this is a most high-stakes trip.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to visit United States of America next week.

Fordwich said, "Should all go well, the king could go down in history as rectifying the current crisis by enhancing continuity. It’s imperative that he connects culturally, avoids any controversy, while reinforcing a shared purpose and history."

She went on saying the monarch has the opportunity to overcome the current tensions, to be the ‘unifying figure’, making him more than relevant, even beyond a stabilizing symbol, but more to be mission-critical.

King Charles could, single-handedly, put back on track the transatlantic bond, the royal expert believes.

The royal expert further warned that there’s immense pressure on King Charles regarding his legacy, adding "Should the trip not be deemed a success, he’ll be undermining not only how he goes down in history, but the duration of the special relationship that is at stake.”

The fresh claims came hours after another royal expert Rob Shuter said King Charles elder son Prince William is reportedly quietly stepping into power with a major strategic move amid King Charles US trip.

The Prince of Wales is using the window to “convene key figures privately,” the insider reveals, adding, “These aren’t routine briefings — they’re strategic, future-facing conversations with real weight. And none of it is designed for public consumption.”
