Oldest living royal joins King Charles to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

King Charles and Queen Camilla together with members of the royal family, hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II.

The royal family's social media accounts shared a video of the reception with a brief statement which said, "Amongst guests were representatives of The late Queen’s former charities and patronages, as well as some very special centenarians, who are celebrating their 100th birthday today."

"It was a delight to come together and share memories from the past 100 years!" said the statement.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie, Princess Anne, Duke of Kent, the late Queen's first cousin and the oldest living member of the British royal family, was also present at the reception. The Duke of Kent, 90,  is rarely seen in public when he is not performing royal duties. The Duke of Kent featured prominently in the pictures and videos released on social media by Buckingham Palace on the birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth.

The royal mamily marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II through a series of commemorative events, including a visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla to a Royal Collection Trust exhibition, a personal message from The King broadcast on the centenary itself, engagements at the British Museum and in The Regent’s Park, and a reception at Buckingham Palace celebrating the life, service and enduring legacy of the late Queen.
