Prince Harry is reportedly hopeful that the upcoming countdown event for the Invictus Games 2027 could help rebuild his relationship with the royal family.

According to Heat Magazine, the Duke of Sussex is viewing his recent trip to Australia with Meghan Markle as “dress rehearsal” for their royal return.

Harry will return to UK this summer for the one-year countdown event ahead of the Games in Birmingham and Meghan is expected to join.

Speaking with the publication, an insider said that the couple wanted to show with their Australia trip what they could offer if allowed to support royal duties in a limited capacity.

“Harry was mindful going into this trip that it was like a dress rehearsal for the royals to see what they’re missing out on – and what they’d stand to gain by allowing him and Meghan back into the fold part-time,” they said.

The insider added, “The Invictus Games will be a perfect springboard for Harry and Meghan to come back, and there’s no reason why the royals wouldn’t give their backing to a charity event like this.”

They further shared, “The distraction of a cause like Invictus will be a welcome one for King Charles and the monarchy, and it’s no secret Charles has been pushing hard behind the scenes for people to give Harry and Meghan another chance.”

“Harry has already formally approached his father in the hope that he’ll open the Invictus Games when the time comes. If it happens, it will be a very public way for the Sussexes to be welcomed back into the fold.”
