Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have received support from a royal expert after facing criticism over their recent trip to Australia.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra for a series of charity engagements before returning to their home in California.

However, some critics have been questioning whether their visit resembled a “faux royal tour” despite them stepping down as working royals in 2020.

Speaking on it, royal expert Jennie Bond defended Harry and Meghan as she said that they have never described their visit in that way.

"Harry and Meghan have never called it that. They are not doing any walkabouts or, as far as we know, having high-level discussions with dignitaries or politicians,” she told The Mirror.

“They are there to promote themselves – evidently – but also to do some charitable work along the way,” the expert continued.

“This kind of visit is precisely what Harry and Meghan wanted to do at the start of the whole sorry story that led them stepping down as working Royals.

“They wanted to combine earning a living with some charitable work. So, here they are doing exactly that. What’s the problem?"
