As Monarch, she comforted the nation in difficult times, and was often at the centre of celebrations and moments of national pride.

“We look back at some of the historic events which marked her reign, and made her a constant in many of our lives,” the palace shared on Sunday.

On Monday, the palace also shared Queen Elizabeth’s message with a video.

The late queen’s message reads, “I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service.”

On her 21st birthday in 1947, Queen Elizabeth II pledged to devote her life to the service of her people.

“She remained true to her word – undertaking official duties up until her final days,” the palace says.

On Tuesday, April 21, it would have been Queen Elizabeth 100th birthday.

Meanwhile, King Charles will visit an exhibition dedicated to his late mother's fashion on Monday, the first in a number of events which the British royals will attend to mark what would have been the late Queen's 100th birthday on Tuesday.

Elizabeth, Britain's longest-reigning and longest-lived monarch, was born on April 21, 1926, going on to spend 70 years on the throne before her death in September 2022 at the age of 96.
