Prince Harry determined not to pass past trauma to Archie, Lilibet

Prince Harry recently talked about the emotional challenges of fatherhood during his trip to Australia with wife Meghan Markle.

According to a source, the Duke of Sussex’s words show that he is focused on doing the inner work needed so he does not pass unresolved trauma on to his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Speaking during a fatherhood discussion at a Movember charity event in Melbourne, Harry reflected on how becoming a father to Archie and Lilibet has made him more aware of his emotions and how they can affect children.

“I think the biggest tip that I was given, actually, from my therapist in the UK, was just be aware of how you feel once the baby is born,” he said.

King Charles’ son added, "Every single time I went to work, and I came back – if I was stressed, the moment that I held Archie, he would start crying... fatherhood is the most important and sort of transformational role that a guy can ever, can ever move into."

"From my perspective, our kids are our upgrade. That’s not how I was taught, but that was my take on it – not to say I was an upgrade of my dad or that my kids are an upgrade of me,” he continued.

“That’s the approach that I take, to know that with the world the way that it goes, the kids that we bring up in today’s world need to be an upgrade."

Sharing their two cents on his speech, the source told a US-based entertainment site, "He’s framing fatherhood as something that requires real emotional accountability."

"For him, it’s not just about being present - it's about doing the internal work so you don’t pass on unresolved issues,” the insider added.
