'Pawn Stars' Corey Harrison requests financial support after his tragic motorcycle accident
Corey Harrison is left with 'no other option' after his devastating motorcycle accident gave him serious injuries
Corey Harrison has made an unexpected move following a serious motorcycle accident.
In January this year, the Pawn Stars star had an accident which caused serious damage to his motorcycle in Tulum, Mexico.
Aron Chambers, his friend, has set up a GoFundMe page for financial aid as he sustained 11 fractures in his rib cage, internal bleeding, and a concussion.
Corey was immediately taken to the hospital in Playa del Carmen, where he remained hospitalized for almost half a month but had to leave against medical advice because “the financial pressure became too much.”
After his unadvised discharge from the medical facility, the American businessman was shifted to his home in Tulum, where he had to arrange a house doctor as he “was in excruciating pain.”
The doctor prescribed morphine treatments and IV fluids to mitigate pain and facilitate smooth recovery even though Corey was “incredibly hesitant to take heavy pain meds, especially after losing his brother Adam to an overdose just last year,” stated Chambers.
However, “the agony left him with no other option,” his pal shared. Following days of home doctors’ checkup, Corey’s “oxygen levels plummeted to dangerously low levels. In a heartbreaking moment that shook all of us to our core, Corey looked at us and said, 'I'm just going to die out here. I don't have the money to keep paying these people,’” he recalled.
His close friends and family then drove him to a more “affordable” medical facility in Mérida away from the nearby tourist-area hospitals.
Chambers claimed, “There were moments when we weren't sure we'd make it in time” but the situation remained devastating when doctors told him that one of Corey’s ribs “completely separated and was pressing into his lung.”
He then had three life-saving surgeries and almost three litres of blood was drained from his chest.
Corey stayed in hospital for 18 days but when the time of his discharge arrived, he faced a major setback learning about his medical bills that amounted to over $100,000.
Now he is asking people to help as he has “emptied his entire bank account” and used his credit cards to their maximum limit.
It is worth mentioning that the unfortunate incident happened just a few days before his father, Rick Harrison, tied the knot with Angie Polushkin on January 26.
