Kate Middleton praised for her looks but Meghan Markle dubbed real fashion disrupter
Royal expert says Kate Middleton shines as style queen but Meghan Markle shook up royal fashion
Kate Middleton is often seen as the royal family’s style icon, known for her polished looks and relatable fashion choices.
However, royal experts said Meghan Markle was the one who actually played a key role in changing how royal women dress.
While the Princess of Wales helped make high-street fashion acceptable in royal circles and sparked sell-outs with her outfits, an expert claimed that the Duchess of Sussex challenged stricter dress rules.
Speaking with The Mirror, royal expert Rosie Harte said, “Kate has always felt relatable because she seemed more like one of us when she married into the family.”
“She came from an affluent background but didn’t have a title, and she was the first royal to fully integrate high-street fashion into her look.”
“It’s not quite Hollywood, because you can tell she’s still a princess. But it’s cooler and more fashionable than in the past and she has fun with it,” author of The Royal Wardrobe added.
Noting how Prince Harry's wife disrupted royal fashion, she said Meghan helped make trousers more acceptable.
“They were previously worn sparingly, but she kicked that door open. Bringing in a wide-leg trouser is one of the biggest things Meghan did for the royal fashion landscape," added the expert.
