Prince William represents King Charles at Windsor Castle ceremony
Prince William on Wednesday awarded honors at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle in London
Prince William carried out investitures at Windsor Castle in London on Wednesday, according to Kensington Palace.
During the ceremony, Frank Rothwell was awarded his honour as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
The Oldham Athletic owner was awarded his medal in recognition of his work as a "philanthropist and fundraiser" and for his charitable services to dementia research.
Frank was announced as being included in the King's Birthday Honours list in June last year.
Social media account of Oldham Council later shared a picture of Frank Rothwell receiving the honor with the caption, "Oldham Athletic’s owner was officially awarded his Order of the British Empire today, presented by The Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle. "
Dame Clare Barclay, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft UK, and English professional footballer Millie Bright were also among those who were honored by the Prince of Wales on behalf of King Charles.
Actor Idris Elba was among the hundreds named in King Charles's New Year honours list published last month.
The full list includes more than 1,157 people in politics, sport, the arts or community service to be awarded titles from Member, Commander or Officer of the Order of the British Empire to the highest honours of knighthoods and damehoods.
The New Year honours, which have been awarded since at least 1890, aim to recognise not just well-known figures but people who have contributed to national life through often unsung work over many years.
Those honoured will receive their awards at investiture ceremonies held later in 2026 at royal residences.
