Balmoral Castle: King Charles' Scottish residence shares update on closure
Balmoral Castle remained closed to visitors on Saturday and Sunday due to weather conditions
After being closed to the public for two consecutive days due to weather conditions, King Charles's Balmoral Castle is now closed till January 28, 2026. However, the extended closure is not due to weather conditions.
An update on Balmoral Castle's website read, "Explore the gardens, admire the castle, or immerse yourself in the estate’s natural beauty, and discover the timeless charm of Balmoral. Open from 1000 until 1600 on certain dates from late January until late March."
The statement said, "Please note that from late January until late March there is no charge for general admission and you will be able to enjoy a gentle walks around the grounds as well as an opportunity to visit the Mews Gift Shop and the Restaurant."
Earlier, the royal estate's social media accounts said it remained closed to the public on Saturday and Sunday due to weather conditions.
On Friday a statement said, "Balmoral remains closed to the public today (Saturday 3 January) due to winter weather conditions and an active weather warning."
Another statement issued by the monarch's Scottish residence said on Saturday, "Balmoral will remain closed to the public on Sunday 4 January. All Sunday lunch booking deposits will be refunded."
People were asked to follow the estate's Facebook and Instagram pages or visit balmoralcastle.com for the latest opening information.
Meanwhile, King Charles is currently staying at Sandringham in Norfolk, avoiding the extreme weather conditions that are occurring in Scotland.
On Christmas Day, the monarch and his wife Queen Camilla led senior royals to a church in Sandringham in eastern England, greeting well-wishers in crisp winter weather.
