Travis Head’s performance set up Australia for dominant position in Adelaide Test
Travis Head has once again decimated England, securing a dominant unbeaten 142 on day three of the third Ashes Test
Big match player Travis Head brilliantly secured his fourth century at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.
His innings has extinguished England’s hopes of comeback, as Australia built a 356-run lead over England on the verge of retaining the Ashes.
England’s hopes are fading away after they lost the first Test in Perth inside two days and the Brisbane Test inside four days by eight wickets.
A comeback appears unlikely, given that the record-breaking chase at the ground is 316, set by Australia against England in 1902.
Australia experienced a major setback in a tense 20 minutes before lunch, after England were bowled out for 286 thanks to Ben Strokes’ spirited 83 in response to Australia’s first-innings 371.
According to BARRON'S, Marnus Labuschagne was dismissed for 13 after edging a delivery from Josh Tongue to Harry Brook at slip.
Stokes and Jofra Archer kept England’s dreams alive with an exciting 100-run ninth-wicket stand.
Stokes, who was undergoing severe leg cramps and dehydration in scorching heat yesterday brought up his slowest ever 50 in Tests, off 159 balls.
While he continued to grind away, he finally fell when Mitchell Starc took the new ball. Strokes was one of the few players who showed the fight he had demanded before the game.
Boland ended with 3-45, while Pat Cummins took 3-69 in his first Test since July.
There is no doubt Travis Head delivered the final blow to England’s Ashes campaign, enchantingly scoring 142 on Day 3 of the third Ashes Test.
His splendid performance led Australia to a massive 365-run lead, leaving fans with cherished memories while keeping the series alive.
