Prince Harry, Meghan Markle make unexpected career move
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle extended their creative partnership with Netflix in August 2025
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a surprise move as reports reveal the couple has ventured into fiction with Archewell Productions' latest project.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will produce a Netflix romance movie based on Jasmine Guillory's bestselling novel, The Wedding Date.
The project, for which they will join hands with Tracy Ryerson as producers, will mark a shift from their previous focus on documentaries and lifestyle shows.
The New York Times bestselling romance novel tells the story of a successful political strategist who has lost faith in romance.
But when she meets someone in an elevator, she agrees to pose as a stranger's wedding date and discovers that love can surprise you when you least expect it.
“A groomsman and his last-minute guest are about to discover if a fake date can go the distance in a fun and flirty debut novel,” the description read.
Since the book is first in the series of six, there is a possibility that more movies would be made in the future.
Harry and Meghan announced the renewal of their Netflix deal in August 2025 after months of speculations that the streaming giant would not renew their contract.
However, Netflix announced that Archewell Productions has "extended its creative partnership with Netflix, with a multi-year, first look deal for its film and television projects.”
In her own statement, Meghan said, “We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand."
"My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
