Prince William, Harry receive heartbreaking news ahead of Christmas
Prince William and Harry are expected to reach out to the family
Prince William and his estranged brother Harry have received a heartbreaking news days before the Christmas.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the aristocratic mother of William and Harry's childhood nanny Tiggy has died at the age of 82.
Dame Shan Legge-Bourke was a friend of the Royal Family and was herself a lady in waiting to Princess Anne.
Shan's 'devastated' family announced her death last night, saying she passed away peacefully at home.
The family announced, “We are devastated to lose our mother.
“She was an inspiration to us all, and to many people she met over her years of service to Wales, and the countless organisations and institutions she supported.”
The family statement continued, “A country girl at heart, she has left an indelible legacy at Glanusk, the wider countryside and beyond.”
As per the report, the royal brothers, the Prince of Wales and Duke were regular visitors to Dame Shan's 18-000 Glanusk estate near Crickhowell on the Welsh border when they were young.
The report further says Dame Shan had long been a friend of the members of the royal family however, their ties strengthened when her daughter Tiggy became nanny to William and Harry.
Tiggy was also the personal assistant to King Charles, then the Prince of Wales, from 1993 to 1999.
Prince William and Harry’s nanny has used her married name since her marriage to Charles Pettifer in 1999.
It is likely Prince William, Harry and other members of the Firm will reach out to the family following Dame Shan’s death.
