Meghan Markle has been receiving “online threats” after reports claimed she has decided against going to see her dad Thomas Markle.
The Duchess of Sussex sent a letter to her dad after her dad sent a public message to her from hospital bed, saying he fears does not “want to die estranged.”
A source revealed that Meghan has further limited contact with her estranged dad by deleting his phone number after he had his leg amputated following a medical emergency.
A report by Sunday Times has revealed that Prince Harry’s wife has also chosen not to visit him as he recovers in the Philippines.
Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018 and avoided calling him directly because she feared the conversation could be leaked.
Defending Meghan over her decision, a friend of hers told Woman’s Day, “Anything she does with her family is sold to the papers the next day.”
“This isn’t about caution, it’s about safety and the fact she’s been getting more online threats proves it,” they added.
“This could have been handled completely differently but, instead, Meghan’s again on the back foot with the Markles.
“It’s typical of them to throw out a GoFundMe page rather than ask for her help privately.”
The report further revealed that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is having a hard time seeing Meghan receives backlash.
“He can’t bear all the negative press Meghan’s getting,” they said. “He’s still siding with her over everything, thinking she’s being treated unfairly but his security review has opened the door to a homecoming with his family.”
And so, Harry wants Meghan to reconcile with her dad as he believes “they’re in identical situations with both their dads facing close calls with death.”
“Harry knows it’s time to bury the hatchet with them both and even Meghan’s starting to agree.”
