Sir Cliff Richard has reached out to King Charles following his own cancer diagnosis.

On Good Morning Britain, the singer announced that he has been treated for prostate cancer. Richard also sent a message to the monarch over his mission to raise awareness about cancer screening.

"I’ve been involved with many charities over the years and if the King is happy to front it for us, I’m sure loads of people, I certainly would join him," Richard said in an interview with Dermot Murnaghan.

Adding, "If the King is listening, I think most of us would say, ‘yeah – we’re available.'"

Revealing about his diagnosis, Richard said that he was diagnosed after health checkup ahead of his concert tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Sir Cliff Richard shared, "They found that I had prostate cancer. The good fortune was that it was not very old, and the other thing is that it has not metastasised. Nothing had moved into bones or anything like that."

"The cancer’s gone at the moment. I don’t know whether it’s going to come back. We can’t tell those sort of things but we need to, absolutely, I’m convinced, get there, get tested, get checked," he added.

This comes just a few days after King Charles' video message in which he shared his personal cancer journey. As part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, King Charles urged people to take up offers of cancer screening. "early diagnosis quite simply saves lives," the King said in the message.

It is pertinent to mention that Sir Cliff Richard was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1995, making him the first pop star to receive the honour.
