Meghan Markle has reportedly taken a huge step amid father Thomas Markle’s hospitalization following major surgery.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have further limited contact with her estranged dad by deleting his phone number after he had his leg amputated.
A report by Sunday Times has revealed that Prince Harry’s wife has also chosen not to visit him as he recovers in the Philippines.
Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018 and avoided calling him directly because she feared the conversation could be leaked.
Instead, she sent a private letter sharing her feelings about his repeated media interviews and hoped it would remain confidential.
An insider revealed that Meghan’s letter to her father was “warm” and “heartfelt,” adding, “But let’s be honest — it reads more like a press release than a private letter.”
“Every word was measured. She had to protect herself,” they added. “She wanted connection, but the past has made her cautious.”
“There’s love there, but also fear. It’s one of the most difficult things she’s had to navigate emotionally.”
Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. revealed that doctors had to amputate his father’s leg in order to remove a blood clot.
“There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed and it was a case of life or death,” he told Daily Mail. “My dad is being very brave.”
“His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly. I took him to a local hospital and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated.”
