King Charles’ former butler has shared why he thinks it was "clever" of the monarch to share a health update with the nation.
Charles went on air yesterday with a message to support this year’s Stand Up to Cancer campaign. He urged people to go for cancer screenings and emphasized the importance of early diagnosis.
He tied the message to his health update, revealing that due to early diagnosis, his cancer is now in a stage where his treatments can be reduced.
Grant Harrold, who served as the butler from 2004 to 2011, back when Charles was Prince of Wales, believes the monarch's update was a smart move.
"He knows this will be picked up and followed around the world," Harrold said, per The Mirror. "So rather than making it about himself, he's used the moment to help others. He's used the attention and the headlines to remind every single one of us that we need to get checked."
"He's done this in a very clever and carefully orchestrated way," he added. "He understands the power of headlines, and he's used them for good."
King Charles was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer early last year and has been receiving treatment since.
