Meghan Markle must rethink next steps as father battles critical health: Expert
Meghan Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle recently had his left leg amputated
Meghan Markle is facing renewed criticism after her long-estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr., had his left leg amputated due to medical emergency.
According to reports, the 81-year-old remains in intensive care in Philippines following emergency leg surgery.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother, Thomas Jr., described the situation as “fighting for his life.”
In such crucial times, it was revealed that Meghan was able to sent him a letter amid reports she had difficulty locating where he was admitted in Philippines.
Speaking on the matter, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said it a “decidedly dysfunctional situation” for Meghan to be on television discussing love and family, referring to her Christmas special episode of With Love, Meghan.
"It is a decidedly dysfunctional situation to have Meghan on television talking about love and family while her father is said to be fighting for his life in hospital,” he said, per Radar Online.
“I don't imagine it has been received in the way Meghan would have hoped, so she and Harry will need to think very carefully about what they do next."
According to an insider Meghan’s letter to Thomas was “warm” and “heartfelt,” but seemed more like a “press release.”
“But let’s be honest — it reads more like a press release than a private letter. Every word was measured. She had to protect herself,” the source said.
