Meghan Markle receives reality check amid failed attempts to copy Kate Middleton

Meghan Markle is facing criticism after her latest Netflix Christmas special, Meghan, With Love, failed to impress viewers and critics.

The episode, which included holiday crafts, cooking segments, and celebrity guests like Naomi Osaka, could not grab viewers’ attention with many describing it as “cringeworthy.”

Speaking on it, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said that the Duchess of Sussex seems to be copying Kate Middleton but its not working for her.

He said that the timing of Meghan’s special, just before the Princess of Wales’ popular Together at Christmas carol concert, highlighted an ongoing sense of rivalry between the two. 

Fitzwilliams told Radar Online, "Meghan is secretly battling to emulate some of the magic that Kate clearly creates, but it is not working.

"She displayed almost relentless positivity, which actually becomes weary to watch. It seems that she'd like to be a sort of Californian Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way, and therefore her show just does not have the same level of substance as Kate's carol concert,” the expert added.

"If we look at the timings of many of the things the Sussexes have done, there is often a clash with William and Kate.

“Recently, for example, there was Harry's visit to Canada at the same time as William's Earthshot trip."

An insider also echoed the same sentiments, saying that it is clear that Meghan still feels that she is competing against the Princess of Wales.

"It's clear that Meghan continues to feel a rivalry with Kate, going back to their Fab Four days, the palace source said.

“That dynamic has influenced many of the Sussexes' decisions in the public eye over time,” they added.
