Ed Sheeran is heaping praises for Taylor Swift in a latest interview.

The 34-year-old singer sat in for a recent interview for The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast and spoke about his initial bonding with the 'Ophelia' songstress.

Ed recalls asking Swift if she “ever wants to write a song, I'm around," during a opening set for Snow Patrol in Nashville.

"I knew that she knew my music,” added Sheeran.

“Then we met, and then we wrote, and then I don't know,” the singer continued, adding that “obviously,” the duo are “the opposite sex, and we're from different countries and cultures, but I feel very intertwined creatively with her.”

This comes as Swift earlier praised Ed for his friendship and experience in art.

Earlier, Swift told Rolling Stone for a cover in 2017: “He is the James Taylor to my Carole King and I can’t imagine a time when he wouldn’t be.”

This comes amid a reported wedge between Swift and Ed. For those unaware, Swift released her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, just a few weeks after Sheeran dropped his eighth studio album, Play, which immediately hit streaming platforms and outperformed. This shocked the Sapphire hitmaker and made his team take prompt action to come up with a new plan for promoting his release.

The source said, "Ed is meticulous about timing – it's a big part of why he's been so successful. When Taylor revealed her album was coming just a couple of weeks after his, it completely disrupted his rollout. His team had to scramble to adjust their plans and bring things forward.”

“He was definitely upset, and it's created real tension between them. From his perspective, she didn't have to overshadow his release – but she chose to anyway."

"Taylor's done this sort of thing before – she's incredibly competitive, and when she's focused on an album rollout, nothing else really takes priority. Ed didn't see it coming and felt completely blindsided. The music industry is ruthless, but even by those standards, this one really hurt,” the source claimed.
