Ariana Grande reflects on relationship with ex Mac Miller 7 years after his death
Ariana Grande reveals how ex Mac Miller encouraged her to make 'R&B influenced pop music'
Ariana Grande has finally opened up about her relationship with ex Mac Miller, seven years after his death.
Talking about the late rapper at Chapman University, the 32-year-old singer said that Mac encouraged her to "make R&B influenced pop music."
"I'm really thankful for that," she said in a clip in which she spoke to University students, as per Daily Mail.
“That’s also a part of why I was so eager to ask [Miller] to be a part of it," explained Ariana, referring to her 2013 track The Way.
"Not only because he was perfect for the song, but I also felt like I had him to thank for finding my sound," added the We Can’t Be Friends singer.
In addition to The Way, Ariana also collaborated with Mac on his 2016 song, My Favorite Part.
For those unversed, Ariana and Mac announced their split in 2018 after two years of dating. Months later, news broke that the American rapper died of an accidental overdose.
Following his death, the Wicked actress took to her Instagram handle to mourn the loss of her ex.
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was 19 and I always will,” she wrote. “I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore," she penned.
The Save Your Tears singer continued, "I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad, I don’t know what to do. You were my dearest friend. For so long."
"Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re OK now. Rest," added Ariana.
