Royal expert defends Meghan Markle over latest move
Meghan Markle made shocking revelations in her latest magazine interview
Meghan Markle made some surprising revelations in her latest magazine interview.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the Duchess of Sussex touched several topics but one moment from the conversation has got people talking.
Seemingly mocking Meghan, the journalist revealed that when she went to meet the wife of Prince Harry at her house in New York, the house manager introduced her as "Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex" while nobody else was seemingly in the house.
Given constant criticism of Meghan clinging on to her royal title despite stepping down from the role in 2020, royal expert Jennie Bond claims introduction was "absurd."
Speaking with Mirror, Jennie said, "It sounds so absurd, given the context that this was the second time the interviewer was meeting Meghan, and the first had been so relatively informal, sharing burger and chips at a restaurant."
Adding, "So I suspect that this was simply a house manager getting overly pompous about the fact that there was a Duchess in the house. Americans tend to get very excited about titles."
However, the expert defended Meghan Markle, suggesting that "I don't think we should start criticising Meghan for this."
She noted about Meghan Markle's interview, "This was at a friend’s home and the staff were probably over-zealous."
"It simply doesn’t sound like the huggy, friendly Meghan we see portrayed elsewhere," Jennie Bond said.
