YouTube rolling out new feature ‘Your custom feed’
YouTube launches more personalized custom feed for relevant content
YouTube has finally introduced a feature to fix a chaotic or muddled home feed for its users.
Finding a YouTube video that matches user interests was a bit challenging; however, the video-sharing platform recognized the issue and introduced a new feature titled “Your Custom Feed.”
Searching for a video on YouTube according to your personal interest can be a bit frustrating with irrelevant recommendations.
It has been often observed that the algorithm of the most popular video-sharing platform, misunderstands users’ intentions on the basis of their search history.
After searching for a specific topic, YouTube often starts showing bulks of the same videos on the feed, which doesn’t always correspond to the user’s real interests.
In the newly introduced feature, a new section appears next to the “Home” button allowing users to manually enter their suggestions for desired topics.
This new addition will help to, not only avoid irrelevant observations, but also let users direct YouTube’s algorithm to their interests.
Furthermore, YouTube, believes that this feature could be a more convenient alternative to the standard “Not Interesting” or “Don’t Recommend Channel” tools, as it will allow users to shape their feed more accurately and quickly.
Instead of passively scrolling through a stream of content that may not align with user interests, the new feature allows users to actively shape their content feed by entering specific prompts.
Additionally, the feature is in the trial phase and currently available for limited users only.
