Ashley Tisdale is opening up about why she’s finally ready to step into a new chapter, this time under a new name.
The High School Musical alum, who has long used her married name privately, shared that she now wants the world to know her as Ashley French.
In a TikTok video posted on Nov. 17, the actress explained why she held off on making the change for so many years.
“I’ve been Ashley French for so long at home,” she said.
“But I’ve never really changed [my name] publicly because everybody knows me as Ashley Tisdale. I just felt like it was time for people to know me for me, and not just for a character or a celebrity.”
The decision comes as she continues to grow her Frenshe wellness brand and embrace the parts of her life that matter most, being in her 40s, being a mom, and wanting to connect with people in a more honest way.
She said she has “so much to talk about” personally, including her experiences raising her two children, Jupiter, 4, and Emerson, 13 months.
Her newly launched website, By Ashley French, is where she hopes to share that journey more comfortably.
While she’s been open about her family life over the years, she wants this platform to feel more grounded and peaceful for both her and her audience.
She also admitted that shifting social media trends made her rethink where and how she shares her story.
She noted that Instagram “has changed a lot” and that the mix of real users and bots makes it harder to feel connected.
Although she isn’t trying to avoid criticism, she explained that protecting her peace means choosing a space where she feels safe expressing herself.
For Ashley, going public with her married name isn’t just a rebrand, it’s a way to align her personal life, her wellness work, and the identity she’s ready for people to see.
