Prince William is beyond irked after talks about his wife and estranged brother began making rounds about a shocking notion.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, who share three children, have been married for 14 years and are no stranger to affair rumours. However, the future king was left baffled and furious when a former staffer brought up the “near-fling” Prince Harry and Kate Middleton could have had when they split up briefly in 2007.
King Charles’s former butler Grant Harrold had commented that Harry and Kate “got on so well” that he wouldn’t have been surprised if they had “gotten together”.
However, nothing of such took place between the “best friends” as the Duke of Sussex recalled liking Catherine immediately after William introduced her but called her “a sister he never had” in his bombshell memoir Spare.
Despite it all, it doesn’t change the fact that it struck a nerve with William. A source told RadarOnline that Harry and Kate had “clicked instantly”. When William broke up with his now-wife, he knew there was a “tiny window where anything could have happened”.
Prince Harry and Princess Kate have always shared a close friendship, evident in their public appearances together. The source added that while the future king would “never admit it” but he “hated the idea that Kate and Harry might have worked as a couple”.
About the claims Grant had made, a former Palace aide explained that Grant’s speculation stemmed from the genuine relationship the three of them shared and William “didn’t like that speculation”. Unfortunately, it “planted a seed that never went away”.
The sources believe that this may be one of the reasons why Prince William is having a hard time reconciling with his estranged brother.
