LinkedIn rolls out AI-powered people search to boost networking
A new feature that works to build connections more accurately and efficiently
LinkedIn has reportedly launched a new AI-powered people search feature designed to help professionals, experts, and potential partners find connections faster.
The prime motive behind this development is to assist individuals with various aspects of its platform including ad copy, content creation, hiring support, personalized updates, and learning tools.
LinkedIn unveiled a new job search tool earlier this year for members in the U.S. that will help users search for jobs using natural language queries, and this feature is now expanding.
In this connection, Rohan Rajiv, senior director of product management at LinkedIn, told TechCrunch, “With lexical search, you have to know the exact title of the person, or you need to wrestle with filters to find the right person. The new AI-powered people search is the fastest path to the person who can help you the most.”
Meanwhile, the internet platforms are effectively incorporating AI into their search functionalities, users are specifically turning to chatbots like ChatGPT and Perplexity for certain answers.
Conversely, search engines such as Google, Bing, Brave, and DuckDuckGo have integrated AI-driven results. The field of cybernetic research is also seeing a surge in startups.
LinkedIn is primarily launching an AI-powered people search for premium users in the U.S. with further plans to expand to other regions in the coming months.
It has been observed that currently the search feature is not perfect, and the company is striving to improve the search tool to understand the query from the user.
LinkedIn is employing AI to break down the conventional barriers of its own search bar, and ultimately making its network more accessible and productive for its users.
