Charles Spencer opens up about his childhood memories with Princess Diana
Charles Spencer reveals childhood nickname he had for Princess Diana
Charles Spencer revealed he has the same “edgy humor” as his older sister princess Diana.
Speaking with People Magazine, the late beloved princess’ younger brother shared that his Swan Song: Diana, My Sister gave him a chance to clarify some of the long-held myths about their childhood.
“I think this does give me the opportunity to lay certain myths to rest,” the memoirist told the outlet.
Reflecting on their childhood, Spencer said, “The childhood I remember us sharing was a really happy one,” he used to call the late princess “Duch,” on the other hand she had a different name for him, “Carlos.”
It is worth noting here that Spencer's parents, John Spencer and Frances Ruth Roche got separated in 1967, after almost 17 years of marriage.
Spencer recalled, “Of course, there was the blight of my mother leaving home, but my father was a really caring father and made the house really joyful.”
He added, “We had a really lovely nanny called Sally and … she remembered Diana as this very happy little girl.”
Noting, “So maybe there was stuff going on inside that was more personal than she was processing, but at the time I think we seemed very happy.”
He went on to say, “All of the best times were us laughing. We had the same sense of humor, quite sort of, not dark, but quite edgy humor,” he continued, “I would love to laugh with her again. That would be good.”
It is pertinent to mention here that Princess Diana's 30th anniversary is on the horizon and will be marked on August 31.
