Trump's iconic dance goes viral at ASEAN Summit Malaysia
U.S. President Donald Trump visits Malaysia to attend 47th ASEAN Summit
U.S. President Donald Trump displayed his iconic dance moves for Malaysian performers during his Grand welcome at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Trump immediately drew cheers after performing his signature campaign-style dance, joining Malaysian traditional performers, setting the mood for a peace deal ahead of the Association of South-east Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
The U.S. president was welcomed by Malaysian officials at the airport, including Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and by a crowd of onlookers waving flags and dancing ahead of a summit with leaders of the ASEAN group of nations.
Soon after the aircraft touched down at the airport, Trump surprisingly joined Malaysian locals in performing a traditional welcome dance on the red carpet for his Grand arrival to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit.
He greeted performers with his signature campaign-style dance moves-slow, rhythmic air punches and hip sways to the tune of Hawaii Five-O.
However, it is not the first time the U.S. president has surprised everyone with his iconic dance moves.
The president had previously turned his signature dance into the 2024 campaign, especially performing his campaign song Y.M.C.A.A by the village people.
The U.S. president arrived in Kuala Lumpur for the ASEAN Summit before joining Japan and South Korea.
Moreover, Trump’s arrival in Malaysia marks his first Asia-Pacific trip since his re-election, and his signature dance with traditional performers drew global attention.
Furthermore, the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur highlighted renewed regional cooperation, signaling a shared commitment to strengthening ties amid a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.
In addition, the ASEAN Summit witnessed the signing of the landmark Cambodia-Thailand Peace Deal, titled the “Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord.”
The primary purpose of the peace deal was to pave the way for the de-escalation of border tensions and ensure the safety of thousands of civilians living on both sides of the frontier.
“This is a momentous day for all of the people of Southeast Asia as we sign a historic agreement to end the military conflict between Cambodia and Thailand,” said Trump after the signing ceremony.
The Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord was built on the ceasefire agreed on July 28, which ended five days of fierce border fighting that left more than 40 dead and forced 300,000 people to flee their homes.
Historically, the Summit also formally accepted the Asian country ‘Timor-Leste’ as a full member of ASEAN, making it the 11th member and marking the regional bloc’s first expansion in more than 25 years.
