US flag modified into Nazi party symbol ‘swastika’ found in Republican congressman's office
Mr Taylor is a first-term congressman representing a district east of Cincinnati
A United States (U.S.) flag altered into a “vile and deeply inappropriate” symbol was recently discovered from the Capitol Hill office of a Republican Congressman from Ohio.
Representative Dave Taylor has revealed that his office along with Capitol Hill Police have launched an investigation after an American flag altered to depict a swastika was discovered from his office.
For context, the swastika was used by Nazi Germany and became a symbol of hate, antisemitism, and white supremacy.
The flag was spotted during a virtual meeting and a picture of it has been obtained by Politico which reveals that some red and white stripes were altered to depict a swastika symbol on the flag.
Rep Taylor said the flag pinned to the cubicle wall had been vandalized, adding, “It depicts a vile and deeply inappropriate symbol.”
He added, “The content of the image does not reflect the values and standards of my office, staff or myself. I condemn it in the strongest terms.”
The Capitol Police has not yet responded to the media inquiry regarding the incident due to public information office closure amid government shutdown.
Mr. Taylor is a first-term congressman belonging to the Republican Party representing a district east of Cincinnati.
