The famous primatologist Jane Goodall passed away at the age of 91 on October 01, 2025.
The visionary scientist became renowned for her incredible contributions in the world of anthropology and groundbreaking work with chimpanzees.
Now a royal historian Robert Lacey shared insights into the meeting of Dr. Jane Goodall meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle around the time of the birth of their son, Prince Archie, in May 2019.
Interestingly, she reportedly received a slightly rude reply from the Sussexes when she cuddled Archie, hinting at their eventual royal exit.
In his book Battle of the Brothers, Lacey revealed that Dr. Goodall visited the Royal couple at Frogmore Cottage a few weeks after the young prince was born.
He writes: 'Meghan was holding the newborn Archie tenderly in her arms and she offered the baby to the 85-year-old Goodall for a cuddle.'
Recalling the meeting herself, Dr. Goodall shared that she was 'one of the first' to give the newborn prince, aside from family members.'
She added: 'I made Archie do 'the Queen's wave,' saying 'I suppose he'll have to learn this.'
But Harry appeared unimpressed by Dr. Goodall's words ,reportedly responding: 'No! He's not growing up like that!' And the rest is history- just right months alter, the couple announced their decision to step back from as senior members of the Royal Family.
Following the announcement of her passing, Meghan and Harry paid tribute to the primatologist, describing her as a 'visionary humanitarian,' who was a friend to the planet and a friend to us.'
'She held our son, Archie when he was first born, and showered love and care to those who were privileged to know her. She will be deeply missed,' they said in a statement.
