Will King Charles abdicate if Andrew's legal troubles worsen? 'Quite worrying'
Andrew was arrested in February and questioned for hours at a police station
King Charles could be forced to abdicate if his disgraced brother Andrew scandal worsens amid reports police will also investigate the former Duke of York over Royal Ascot misconduct allegations.
According to reports, Andrew is facing allegation that he behaved inappropriately at Royal Ascot in 2002.
Earlier, detectives at Thames Valley Police said Friday they had been in touch with the lawyer of a potential victim following reports a woman was brought to Windsor, west of London, where Andrew was a resident on the royal family´s estate, in 2010.
The force is reportedly concerned that the public believes they are only focused on accusations of misconduct in public office by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
They have been probing allegations that Andrew shared sensitive information with the disgraced financier Epstein during the former prince´s decade as UK trade envoy.
He was arrested in February and questioned for hours at a police station on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
Andrew has denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged, but remains under police caution.
Amid Andrew scandal, King Charles is facing growing calls to abdicate.
Speaking to the Sky News Australia, former Reform UK candidate Mayuran Senthilnathan says, “It’s starting to get quite worrying at the moment. A lot of people are even calling for perhaps the King, if Andrew goes to jail ... and if more allegations come out, should the King abdicate the throne and allow Prince William and Kate to take over.”
