Fast food delivery enters Jet age: Chipotle goes aerial - Know each detail
Chipotle employees get the orders loaded into a ‘Zipping Point,’ where a Zip drone swoops in, grabs it, and takes off into the air
Forget waiting for a delivery driver stuck in traffic jams, chipotle has gone high-tech!
They’re teaming up with Zipline to launch Zipotle, a drone delivery service that’s dropping burritos and bowls from the sky. No more traffic jams or waiting around, just straight-up food stops!
Any guesses for the first launch spot?
It’s going to be Chipotle’s Rowlett, Texas location at 3109 Lakeview Parkway.
From sky to plate: How drone delivery works?
This is what’s up! Chipotle employees get the orders loaded into a "Zipping Point", where a Zip drone swoops in, grabs it, and takes off into the air.
Then, the drone hovers 300 feet above your house, and a tether carefully drops your food down to you.
The cost of a single delivery is $2.99 plus a 15 percent service charge, capped at $6. Basically, you’re paying less than Uber Eats and getting a live airshow in the process.
Has a new era of fast-food flex begun?
Chipotle’s CEO Keller Rinaudo Clifton says, drone delivery is about to feel totally normal, like magic that shows up minutes after you tap your phone.
Zipline, once known for delivering blood supplies in Rwanda, now powers deliveries for 5,000 health facilities globally and already join hands with Panera, Sweetgreen, Mendocino Farms, and Walmart in the U.S. Chipotle is simple the latest, and probably the most delicious, addiction to the list.
Dallas, rejoice! Your burrito dreams are literally coming from above - straight from the sky to your doorstep!
