Aamir Khan makes unexpected decision about his new film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is successor film to Aamir Khan's 2007 classic film
Aamir Khan’s new film Sitaare Zameen Par has officially released in theatres last month.
In a surprising move, the 60-year-old Indian actor and producer made a very wise decision about the new movie, which came out unexpectedly.
As per the latest reports, Khan has decided to bypass all traditional streaming platforms entirely for digital release.
Rather he has selected YouTube while sidestepping all the others.
Now, Aamir's latest theatrical hit will be released on YouTube Movies-on-Demand from August 1.
This is first time somebody has brought a new approach to post theatrical distribution.
In an interview with Variety, the Lagaan famed actor stated, “Roughly 15 years ago, I realized that our most successful films, like 3 Idiots or Dangal, the statistic of people watching in theatres is about 2-3% of the population.”
“So, the next thought that came to me is, how do we reach out to the remaining 97-98%?”
Giving his personal opinion on streaming services, he added, “I don’t think [subscription models are] economically viable for films to do that, not over a long-term period.”
2025 comedy drama starring Khan and Genelia Deshmukh is a successor film to former’s 2007 classic movie, Taare Zameen Par.
