Kiara Advani set to play Meena Kumari in upcoming biopic

Kiara Advani is set to make a powerful return to the screen post-pregnancy, stepping into the iconic role of Meena Kumari in an upcoming biopic.

The Kabir Singh actress, known for her standout performances in several successful films, has reportedly been approached to portray the legendary star in the much-anticipated project.

A source close to the development told Pinkvilla that filmmaker Siddharth P. Malhotra contacted Kiara, 33, to play the role of “The Tragedy Queen” in his forthcoming directorial.

The We Are Family director is said to believe that the Shershaah actress is the “perfect choice” for the part, which requires emotional depth and grace.

Kiara, who is currently on a maternity-break, is expected to mark this film as her comeback project following her hiatus.

The Bollywood star, who was last seen in Satyaprem Ki Katha opposite Kartik Aaryan, had completed filming for her upcoming ventures, War 2 and Game Changer, prior to announcing her pregnancy.

The Jugjugg Jeeyo actress, who tied the knot with Sidharth Malhotra in February 2023, revealed the news of her pregnancy in February 2025 via an adorable Instagram post.

For the unversed, the mom-to-be is said to have loved the script, but has not yet given her final nod.
