King Frederik and Queen Mary received a warm welcome in Tórshavn on Wednesday as they kicked off their three-day historic visit to the Faroe Islands and they weren’t alone.
In a delightful surprise, their 14-year-old daughter, Princess Josephine, joined them for the royal tour.
The young royal, who is the twin sister of Prince Vincent, made an unexpected appearance as the family stepped off the Royal Ship Dannebrog.
Josephine looked chic in a navy pea coat, red knitwear, and wide-legged grey trousers as she joined her parents in greeting the excited crowds.
Smiling warmly and shaking hands, Josephine showed a natural flair for royal duties before accompanying King Frederik and Queen Mary to a reception in Tinganes, followed by a visit to Parliament.
This milestone visit marks the Danish monarchs' first official trip to the Faroe Islands since Frederik ascended the throne.
Originally scheduled for last summer, the tour was postponed due to industrial action, making this week's visit all the more significant.
Just a day earlier, Josephine had participated in the Royal Run, tackling the mile, 5km, and 10km races.
While her presence at the hike was known, her participation in the formal public engagements came as a delightful surprise.
