Karan Johar recently broke his silence on the criticism faced by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone following their 2023 appearance on Koffee With Karan.
The Indian filmmaker, who has produced numerous successful projects under his banner Dharma Productions, addressed the backlash directed at the Bajirao Mastani duo.
In a recent conversation with Raj Shamani, Johar, 52, expressed utmost disgust over the online criticism.
Speaking exclusively, he said, “The way it was perceived was ridiculous. I don’t agree with the reactions.”
The Kuch Kuch Hota Hai maker further defended the “wonderful couple”, stating that they simply being honest.
“They are beautifully in love with each other,” he said, adding, “I’ve known them personally, and now they have a gorgeous daughter. I am like respect their love story, don’t judge it, that’s all.”
Later in the interview, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director also expressed his concern over the backlash faced by Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul.
Reflecting on the athletes, the Indian producer said, “It’s the universe grace that they’re both doing phenomenally. They’re national treasures. A show like mine can’t dampen the heroes of our nation. I was really worried and scared about that.”
Additionally, the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham filmmaker revealed that episodes of his chat show are never edited – unless a guest makes a special request.
On the professional front, Johar has recently produced Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan.
